Your Role

Within the Environmental Resilience & Structural Dynamics section at Flight Testing, testing and verification of thermal & mechanical environments as well as structural dynamics for Gripen and future flying platforms is conducted. Working at Flight Testing as a test engineer is both challenging and exciting, and we need more engineers to lead and conduct tests for our existing products as well as upcoming new products. The work area includes studying vibrations, shocks, and the heat or cold and noise that the test object is subjected to, in order to ultimately ensure the product's survival. This involves measuring an actual induced environment through ground/flight tests but also gaining insight into the product's structural dynamic properties through tests on shake tables or through modal testing with modal hammers and/or vibrators.

You will work closely with Saab's flying products and participate in the entire testing chain - from planning to analysis of results. Your main tasks include:

• Development of testing methodology and test programs
• Preparation and execution of tests in aircraft, simulators, and rigs
• Real-time monitoring of flight tests
• Analysis and evaluation of test results
• Troubleshooting and problem-solving of complex systems

We have a training program that is conducted in several stages to become an authorized test engineer, which, in addition to personal development and knowledge building, gives you the opportunity to lead more advanced and risky tests. There may also be opportunities to work shorter or longer periods abroad, as some operations take place in an international environment.

Your Profile

We are looking for a curious, positive, and proactive person who thrives both in a team and when working independently. You have a passionate interest in technology, both in theory and practice, and combine this with an analytical, flexible, and structured approach to work. Additionally, you have good collaboration and communication skills, which allows you to easily build good relationships and contribute to an effective and pleasant work environment.

Requirements:

• Background as a civil engineer, engineering degree, or equivalent in areas such as technical physics, electronics, mechanical engineering, etc.
• Good language skills in spoken and written Swedish and English.

Desirable experience/knowledge:

• Experience in testing or system development
• Experience working with mechanical, acoustic, and thermal environmental resilience
• Knowledge in structural dynamics / measurement technology / signal processing
• Knowledge in Matlab/Python
• Experience with Simcenter Testlab or similar systems for structural dynamic testing

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, involve requirements for certain citizenship.
