Job responsibilities
As a Controller, you have a key position in the hub between finance, operations, and strategy. You own and develop the decision support (Power BI) and ensure that the organization – from the national management to local departments – has the right basis for making long-term and correct decisions.
Your main areas of responsibility include:
- Ownership of Business Intelligence: You have overall responsibility for Power BI within the organization. You prioritize needs, coordinate reporting, and drive development projects to visualize data that makes a difference, both strategically and operationally.
- Qualified Controller support: You act as a strategic partner and sounding board to the departments regarding budgeting, forecasting, and follow-up. You analyze financial results and key figures to identify trends and suggest concrete actions in case of deviations.
- Process development & Governance: Together with the CFO and operational controller, you drive the development of our governance models and processes for internal control. You are responsible for further developing the entire financial management process within the organization.
- Interaction between national office & operations: You serve as the cohesive link between the national office and the departments within financial management. Through training and support, you contribute to increased competence in financial management and create consensus and quality throughout the organization.
- Reporting: You prepare and present analyses and decision support materials to the national management and board.
Education, experience & personal qualities
- Master's degree in economics or equivalent higher education in finance.
- Several years of experience in qualified controller work, preferably in a decentralized organization.
- Very good understanding of accounting, budgeting processes, and financial management.
- Documented experience in decision support work, preferably Power BI.
- Very good knowledge of Excel and other MS 365 programs.
- Strong analytical ability, structure, and prioritization skills.
- Good communication and pedagogical skills.
Meritorious:
- Experience in change management.
- Experience from the non-profit sector or public operations.
As a person, you are analytical and structured with the ability to combine detailed understanding with a holistic perspective. You thrive in collaboration with others, build trust, and can clarify complex relationships in a simple way. You are motivated by developing processes and contributing to long-term financial sustainability. You have the ability to translate numbers into insights and thrive in the intersection of systems, finance, and people. You can both dive deep into data models and lift your gaze to support the organization in strategic choices.
We are looking for someone who is driven to make a difference and wants to contribute to an organization with an important social mission. You have a genuine interest in the non-profit sector and adult education and see the value in working in an association where knowledge and collaboration are at the center.
