About the Workplace

Östra Primärvården includes Region Blekinge's health centers, youth clinics, children's and adolescents' mental health services, wound center, Karlskrona Rehab Center, and the Doctor Car.

Residents of Blekinge who fall ill turn directly to the health centers and gain access to health care that does not require hospital resources. Care is provided in all cities of the county, in several smaller towns, and sometimes in homes. Our goal is to be a modern outpatient care where teamwork and the needs of patients are at the center. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in war service.

Wämö health center is a medium-sized public health center located on the hospital grounds in Karlskrona. There are excellent communication opportunities as bus and train stations are in direct proximity. You can quickly reach Karlskrona Center by car or bus. Our premises also house the Emergency Center during evenings and weekends.

Job Responsibilities

As a doctor at Wämö health center, you will work broadly within the field of general medicine with varying appointments, both urgent and planned, as well as home visits. We have about 7600 registered patients. Here you will find a laboratory, child health services, nurse appointments, therapists, diabetes clinic, asthma/COPD clinic, wound clinic, and rehabilitation coordinator. The health center is also responsible for a special housing facility.

At Wämö health center, we have recently initiated team-based work to offer patients more continuous care, care at the right level, and collaboration across professional boundaries is an important part for us.

You will also supervise students and training doctors, which we see as a very important task in our operations and part of the daily work. Great emphasis is placed on participating in continuing education activities, common for the entire county, about once a month. There is an opportunity to participate in FQ/Balint groups for personal continuing education.

Qualifications

You have a Swedish medical license with specialist competence in general medicine. You may be newly graduated or have extensive experience - however, it is an advantage if you have previous experience working in a health center.

You master the Swedish language in speech and writing. You have a genuine interest in helping people and always work with the patient in focus. You are confident in your professional role and are a positive colleague who contributes to our good work climate. Furthermore, you have good collaboration skills, initiative, and organizational skills.

Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in war service. Some of our positions are security classified where the employee must undergo a security screening interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585). Applicants who are considered for employment must present an extract from the Police Authority's criminal record before employment.
