We are now looking for a Deputy Head of Department for Geriatrics, Department 36.

The Geriatrics unit belongs to the base unit Regional Joint Care, which also includes Palliative Medicine, the Medical Car, Wound Center, and Central Child Health Care Teams.

The base unit has a county-wide mission.

About the Job

Department 36 is an inpatient ward in Karlskrona with 16 beds for geriatric patients. The beds are divided between medical geriatrics and orthopedic geriatrics. Teamwork is the foundation of the work around geriatric patients, and the department employs doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, along with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, medical secretaries, and kitchen staff. In daily work, collaboration with other healthcare providers is an important part of the work surrounding geriatric patients.

In your role as Deputy Head of Department, you will work daytime on weekdays and provide administrative support to the Head of Department. The assignment includes, among other things:

• Planning daily work and personnel administrative tasks
• Actively participating in the development of the department with a focus on the future
• Ensuring that operational routines, laws, and regulations governing the operations are applied
• Actively keeping up with developments within the Blekinge region
• Developing preventive work, primarily focusing on the psychosocial and physical work environment

It is of utmost importance that the Head of Department and Deputy work for a close and positive collaborative climate. Together, the assignment is shaped and clarified based on the needs of the operation. The assignment will be performed on a part-time basis, and during the remaining time, you will work in your core profession in the department. Additionally, you will replace the regular Head of Department during absence (more than one week) due to vacation or illness. The role of Deputy Head of Department is a fixed-term appointment for at least one year, and your core employment will be within the professional category you belong to.

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse who is interested in working as a Deputy Head of Department. You need to be able to plan, organize, and prioritize your work. You enjoy new challenges and want to work towards the goals of the operation. You are responsible, stress-resistant, and have good collaboration skills. Of course, we also want you to have leadership qualities and good self-awareness. Experience from similar assignments is an advantage.
