About the job

Are you eager to grow within an administrative role as a committee secretary where you have a central role in the administration's committee work?

Then we might have the job for you!

Until 31/8 2026, we need reinforcement in our Staff Unit as our regular committee secretary is going on parental leave. The area of responsibility within this administration includes authority exercise, planning issues, land and exploitation, street/park and property management, as well as cleaning and meal services. The committee secretary plays a central role in the political decision-making process by coordinating and supporting the committee's administrative work.

You will work closely with the head of administration and be the contact point for elected officials towards the administration. You prepare meetings together with the chair, vice-chair, and officials and send out documents to the elected officials before the meeting.

Job responsibilities

In this position, you will have varied assignments focusing on committee work.

Examples of job responsibilities:

  • Secretarial duties in the committee.
  • Planning of matters for decision in the committee.
  • Preparation of documents, content review.
  • Introduce new elected officials to their assignments.
  • Registration of incoming/outgoing matters.
  • Develop administrative processes and draft related governing documents.
  • Handle requests for the disclosure of public documents.

Who are we looking for?

To succeed in the role, you need to have very good administrative and communication skills, a strong ability to handle details and keep order, as well as a good understanding of the municipality's governance and regulations. Knowledge of the Local Government Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, the principle of public access, and other relevant laws is a prerequisite.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working in a team and sees collaboration as a natural part of achieving common goals. You are helpful, structured, and have an excellent ability to solve problems. You have a good sense for political issues and a strong service mindset. Furthermore, you have an interest in IT and see it as a natural part of committee administration.

  • You are structured, which you demonstrate by planning, organizing, and prioritizing work effectively.
  • A well-developed administrative ability and an eye for structure and details.
  • You have the ability to lead processes towards set goals and meet deadlines.
  • You inspire confidence in those you serve by being knowledgeable, reliable, and meticulous with delivery.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating sensitively and smoothly with others.
  • You have good communication skills and a professional approach to the democratic assignment in a politically governed organization.

Great emphasis is placed on your personal qualities.

Qualifications

The position requires:

  • Completed university education with at least a bachelor's degree in political science, law, social sciences, administration, and/or similar education that the employer finds meets the competence requirements.
  • Good knowledge of the Local Government Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, and the principle of public access.
  • Ability to learn administrative data systems.
  • Experience working within municipal administration, committee administration, or registration.
  • Very good Swedish in speech and writing.

Experience with the case management system Lex is an advantage.
