Senior Development Officer at KTH

KTH is now looking for an engaged and strategic Senior Development Officer for the Development Office – the unit responsible for the university's philanthropic relations and fundraising.

Fundraising at KTH is about creating mutually beneficial and long-term collaborations with individuals, foundations, and companies – both in Sweden and internationally – that share the university's vision of driving technological development for sustainable societal progress.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Development Officer, you will play a key role in identifying, building, and developing relationships both externally and internally. You will work closely with researchers, university management, and colleagues in communication and events to present KTH's research and strategic initiatives in an engaging and accessible manner. The work spans from analysis and strategy to operational relationship building and concrete collaborations – with the goal of increasing philanthropic support for KTH.

Your main responsibilities

• Identify, develop, and nurture relationships with potential and existing donors.
• Design strategies and cases for philanthropic support for KTH's research and education, primarily focusing on major gifts.
• Drive your own fundraising processes – from initial contact to long-term partnerships.
• Package and present research projects in close collaboration with researchers and management.
• Build networks and engagement among alumni, foundations, and companies.

About the department/group

The position is located at KTH Development Office, which is part of the Research Support Office (RSO). The Development Office is part of the operational support whose task is to support the university's education and research. KTH's operational support is in an exciting phase where we are collectively working on developing our working methods. As an employee within the operational support, you contribute to KTH's mission to research, educate, and create societal benefit while also having the opportunity for your own professional development.

Qualifications

Requirements

• A degree from a college or university that the employer deems relevant.
• Current experience from working in complex organizations.
• Experience in managing relationships from initial contact to completed business, preferably within fundraising, sales, partnerships, or business development.
• Excellent ability to articulate in both spoken and written form in Swedish and English.

Personal qualities

You are relationship-building, attentive, and persistent – you have a trustworthy demeanor with a strong ability to create engagement and trust regardless of the audience. You have presence and are comfortable in social contexts, thrive in the intersection of academia and business, and find it easy to build networks at both national and international levels.

You are goal- and results-oriented but understand the value of long-term commitment and patience in relationship-building work. You collaborate selflessly, are receptive to others' perspectives, and have a genuine interest in research, technology, and societal development.

Desirable

• Education or equivalent experience in sales, business development, or fundraising.
• Experience in identifying, analyzing, and engaging potential donors or clients.
• Experience in tailoring offers and messages for different target groups.
• Experience in relationship-building communication within academia, foundations, finance, or business.
• A well-developed network – nationally and preferably also internationally – among philanthropists, foundations, and companies.
• Experience from similar positions at universities, research organizations, or fundraising activities is desirable, as well as experience from research, private banking, foundation work, or other relevant parts of the business sector.
