Treatment Assistant at SiS Youth Home Margretelund

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually tailored compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial issues and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements secure youth care. We do this in youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse across the country. At SiS, your working life becomes an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Margretelund receives non-compulsory school-age girls and boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We operate in Lidköping and near Falköping. We are now about to open another department in Lidköping and are therefore looking for treatment staff who want to be a part of and contribute to our operations.

Job Description

Do you want to help create the life-changing difference for vulnerable people? Then the job as a treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. The goal of your mission is to motivate our youth towards new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you are employed to provide care and treatment. You contribute to ensuring that the routines in the department function as they should. You play a significant role in the stability and security of our youth, and you are responsible for the foundation of daily life, such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. You help maintain order and security in the institution according to our routines. Documentation is an important part of your work. You will work on building safe relationships and contribute to ensuring that our youth receive the security and safety they need to break old habits. Together with your team of dedicated colleagues, such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, joyful, and varied.

Working hours are according to a schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.

As a new employee, you will undergo SiS basic training for 10 weeks. The training combines theory with a guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is key to life-changing transformation. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a solid positive view of people, great empathy, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and are happy to share your knowledge with colleagues.

You should also have:

  • At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or other education that corresponds to this. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or another relevant subject area.
  • Driver's license B
  • Good Swedish language skills in speech and writing

It is advantageous if you also have:

  • Experience from client-facing positions in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, e.g., Correctional Officer
  • Security guard training
  • Education in care and nursing
  • Experience working with our target group

*Exceptions to the requirement for at least a two-year post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468).

Employment:

The position is a permanent full-time position and begins with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
