All students have the right to a school that allows them to develop based on their own conditions. SPSM operates schools on behalf of the state. We provide students with a learning environment that allows for participation, learning, and development. We offer meaningful, stimulating, and important educational work at our schools.
Ekeskolan is located in Örebro and teaches students with visual impairments and additional disabilities from preschool class to grade 10. The teaching aims to provide good conditions for students' development and learning, as well as improved academic results. Our staff works extensively with form and sensitivity for all senses. We offer accommodation for students who cannot commute to school every day.
Ekeskolan is part of the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs Education and Schools and provides students with visual impairments combined with additional disabilities an education tailored to each student's conditions.
Ekeskolan is a national special school, which means we have students from all over Sweden. Ekeskolan aims to provide good conditions for students' development and learning, as well as improved academic results.
Ekeskolan offers student accommodation (Monday-Friday) for those students who live too far away to commute daily.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Assistant at Ekeskolan in Örebro.
The position is 80% distributed over evenings, days, and overnight shifts.
Your primary responsibilities are to be available for the students and provide them with safety, care, and the support they need during their stay in the student accommodation to help them achieve their educational goals.
You will be involved and contribute to a meaningful leisure time for our students.
Together with your colleagues, you are responsible for ensuring that students are involved and have influence in their daily lives. You are expected to plan, implement, and evaluate students' individual goal plans based on applicable governing documents.
Your responsibilities also include cleaning, laundry, cooking, visits to swimming pools, and accompanying students on longer trips.
The starting point for all work in school and accommodation is that the best interests of the child must always come first.

The position is a temporary contract.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone who has:
- high school diploma, e.g., Child and Leisure Program, Health and Care Program with a focus on disabilities, or other education deemed suitable by the employer
- previous experience working in residential services
- basic knowledge of child development and various disabilities
- knowledge of visual impairments and guidance
- basic computer skills
It is an advantage if you have:
- knowledge of low-arousal approaches
- knowledge of neuropsychiatric disabilities
- experience with children with challenging behaviors
- knowledge of ICDP (International Child Development Programme), guiding interaction
- knowledge of alternative communication methods such as visual support, tactile support.
As a residential assistant in student accommodation, you are expected to be involved in the planning, implementation, follow-up, and development of the operations.
Social interaction and communication are important in our work.
You are flexible and have good collaboration skills with your colleagues, management, guardians, and school staff. We value qualities such as being secure, stable, reliable, and attentive, as well as having the ability to recognize small progress.
We place great importance on personal suitability.

A probationary period of 6 months applies.
