The Substitute Agency's mission is to recruit and provide hourly staff from 1 day up to 2 months and 29 days for Västerås city's school activities. Through us, you have the opportunity to be booked for both longer and shorter assignments, with a minimum booking of three hours. Everything depends on the needs of the activities and how much you show that you can work based on your availability. As a substitute with us, you will have the opportunity to work in many different activities and be matched to assignments based on your area of expertise. We supply all of Västerås city's school activities (preschool, primary school/adapted primary school, and high school) with substitutes.

The city of Västerås has removed the personal letter from the application process. We do this to achieve a better and fairer recruitment process. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer a number of questions that will be an important part of our selection process.

Your Responsibilities

As a substitute, you can work in preschool activities, preschool class, after-school activities, primary school grades 1-9, and high school.

In the work as a substitute in preschool activities, you participate in most daily tasks that occur within the activities such as gatherings, educational meals, planned activities, singing and storytelling sessions, and also a lot of outdoor activities. For you as a substitute in preschool, there are practical tasks such as washing dishes, wiping tables, and preparing and cleaning up after meals. In this role, it is important that you focus on working based on the needs of the activities and be flexible in meeting these.

In preschool class/after-school - grades 1-9 and high school, you may work with assignments as a resource in class for one or more students. You also need to be prepared to be booked as a resource within adapted primary school and within our special teaching groups. Here you work to support and motivate children and students with intellectual disabilities in their learning and social interactions.

Your Qualifications

Requirements for one of the following:

• Vocational diploma from the high school program Child and Leisure or equivalent completed studies in adult education Child and Leisure according to the National Agency for Education's criteria of at least 1,300 points.
• Approved Swedish high school education or other education equivalent to Swedish high school education, in combination with previous experience in pedagogical work or other work with children/young adults in need of support that the employer assesses as relevant.

If you have an education such as teaching assistant, teacher assistant, or resource educator, we consider it an advantage for the position. We view previous experience of working in preschool/school/adapted school form as positive. Great emphasis is placed on your personal suitability for the assignment. You have the ability to meet children of all ages and motivate them in their learning and create understanding as well as being able to take your own initiatives. You are flexible and enjoy collaborating but also have no problem working independently. In stressful situations, you remain calm and always strive for your work and interaction with children/students to maintain high quality. To function in the role of a substitute, you need to be able to adapt to the routines of different workplaces. You must be at least 18 years old. You speak and write fluently in Swedish. This is because as a substitute, you have an important role in supporting children in their language and communication development and ensuring that children can use language in a rich and nuanced way. Practical Information

You will be matched to assignments based on your area of expertise and can be booked at workplaces both centrally in Västerås and in rural areas. Working hours may vary and bookings at short notice may occur, so it is advantageous if you have Västerås as your starting point.

Other Information

In this recruitment, you must show an extract from the criminal record, and you can advantageously order and receive it digitally for the fastest handling.

We always take references, and in connection with the interview, we will ask you to provide contact details for two references. If you have been employed within the city of Västerås, we always take references from this workplace.

In connection with the interview, you will also need to prove your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or a personal certificate along with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, the EU, EEA, or Switzerland, you must present that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the obligation to have a work permit. Employment can only occur after verification of the work permit, which is required according to the Aliens Ordinance.
