Pilträdsskolan is a free school with approximately 300 students that emphasizes knowledge, safety, and the unique value of each student. The school was founded in 1994 and provides education for grades F-9 as well as after-school activities. Adjacent to the school is Pilträdets preschool for children aged 1-5 years. The main operator is the Källan Foundation in Västerås, and the school is located in Vallby.

You should be a qualified social worker (or similar education), with experience working as a school counselor. A good knowledge of the Social Services Act and other relevant laws is required. You will be an important part of our student health team and will primarily work preventively and health-promoting.

The position involves typical duties for a school counselor, including:

• Working with students in groups for preventive purposes.
• Being present during breaks.
• Support and motivational conversations with individual students and possibly guardians.
• Supporting students with special needs due to physical, mental, and social difficulties.
• Being available for advice and consultation for teachers.
• Collaborating with guardians.
• Participating in the development of action plans.
• Cooperating with social services, youth clinics, police, etc.
• Leading the safety team.
• Advising on issues related to concern reports.
• Conducting absence investigations.

The position is a temporary contract as our counselor will be on parental leave for one year.
