Västerås is a growing city and the Church of Sweden is present in all different parts of the municipality. Here, there is a diversity of contexts, parishes, and work teams that operate in various locations, in the city and in the countryside, in different roles, but always in collaboration with each other. Together, we ensure that people can celebrate worship, that those who wish can participate in teaching, and that those in need receive help and support through our diaconal work. We are continually working on our mission to reach more people with the joyful message.

As a priest with us, you will have many colleagues with great commitment and broad knowledge. We meet people where they are, in everyday life and in celebration, in joy and in sorrow. In our various parishes, there is room for both tradition and innovation, reflection and action.

The positions currently available are different – some are more traditionally anchored, while others have a specific focus, such as youth work – but the foundation is the same: a grounded priestly identity in the Church of Sweden, where the pastoral mission is central.

Qualifications

To apply for any of the positions, we require that you have a bachelor's degree in theology and are ordained as a priest in the Church of Sweden. We expect that you are a member of the Church of Sweden and share our values. You have experience in worship life, pastoral care, and teaching, as well as collaborating with volunteers and working strategically with operational planning. You need to have good IT skills and a driver's license with access to a car, as our positions are located in various parts of the parish.

Depending on the focus of the position, additional qualifications may be relevant. We are happy to match your application with the position that best fits your experiences and wishes.

To thrive as an assistant minister in the Västerås parish, we believe that you are a person who works well with others and that you are outgoing and socially active in professional contexts. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward. We also believe that you are calm, stable, and controlled, even under stress. You are confident, have self-awareness, and the ability to distinguish between personal and professional matters. Finally, we believe that you have a developed communicative ability where you are both a good speaker and an active listener.

All positions entail a permanent employment with 100 percent working hours, where both day, evening, and weekend work may occur.
