Family Home Unit is Hiring
By supporting and guiding foster homes that open their homes to children and young people in vulnerable situations, you play a crucial role in creating safety for placed children. Together in the family home unit, we contribute to a workplace characterized by commitment, responsibility, and care.
Your Tasks
The unit works with recruitment, investigation, training, and guidance of emergency and foster homes. We also find suitable HVB homes, support accommodations, contact families, and contact persons when children and young people need it. The unit's mission includes finding and matching victims of violence and their children to protected accommodations. The workgroup is divided into three teams. We are now recruiting for the team that works with urgent placements of children in emergency homes, HVB, and support accommodations, as well as those needing protection in safe houses.
Your mission includes recruiting and investigating prospective emergency homes, matching children in need of placement with the right family, managing contracts and finances for contractors, and providing support and guidance. If necessary, you will also assist colleagues with placements in HVB or protected accommodations. You will collaborate closely with other units within social services, such as child caseworkers in the authority units, the unit for violence in close relationships, and, when applicable, with outpatient care and social emergency services.
Your Competence
Your strengths include creating good relationships and acting flexibly and responsively in your cases with good judgment. You take great responsibility for your work and have a good ability to handle changes in pace. In more urgent situations, you act calmly, methodically, and seek help when needed. You have experience in social work and may have also worked with authority enforcement and with children and young people. Experience working with foster homes is an advantage.
Your educational background is a degree in social work or another behavioral science degree with the following supplementary courses: social work (basic 7.5 credits and advanced 7.5 credits), social law and administrative law 7.5 credits, and psychology 7.5 credits. Given that this role involves authority enforcement, you have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing. Since our foster homes are geographically spread out, you must have a B driver's license.
We Offer
We offer a workplace with solid expertise in the field and a strong commitment to foster care. We are 27 employees, three team leaders, and a unit manager. Our common approach is based on trauma-informed care (TMO). We tailor the introduction for new employees based on competence and previous experiences to ensure a good start in your new role. In everyday life, we benefit from each other's knowledge, and you will have the support of team leaders and colleagues. We have supervision from an external supervisor once a month.
You have great opportunities to plan your working hours yourself; we apply flexible working hours, and there are opportunities for remote work when the job allows. Our workplace is located in activity-based premises in the Social Services building, where we have close collaboration with other units.
Here, you become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both large and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues around the city, you get Sweden's most important job.
