With us, you will meet families in their daily lives and be a support that truly makes a difference. You step into a team where we take care of each other, share knowledge, and always help each other when needed. Here you will receive a well-thought-out introduction, close guidance, and good opportunities to grow in your role while doing something meaningful for children and parents.
Your Responsibilities
As a family supporter, you assist parents in creating structure, clear routines, and a functioning everyday life for their children. You assess what support the family needs and provide practical and pedagogical guidance to strengthen the parents' abilities. This may involve planning weekly structures and creating weekly schedules or checklists, participating in meetings with schools or other stakeholders, and working to establish sustainable routines at home.
You collaborate closely with preschools, schools, habilitation, foster homes, and residential support. Since the assignments are carried out on delegation from social services, you document continuously and report back to social workers. The work is done both independently and together with family therapists.
You will largely plan your days within given frameworks. The work mainly takes place during the day, but since the interventions are based on the families' needs, some shifts may be scheduled for early mornings or late evenings.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a post-secondary education relevant to the assignment, such as in social work, pedagogy, disabilities, or habilitation. You have experience working with psychosocial issues and/or disabilities in relation to children's and parents' parenting abilities. You are accustomed to documenting your work clearly and systematically. The work involves home visits and support in families' daily lives, which means a B driver's license is required. You also need to have knowledge of the laws governing work in the area.
We Offer
You will become part of a committed workplace where we work together to make a difference for children and families. We are part of social services' open care and conduct qualified psychosocial treatment work. Here you will meet colleagues with both broad and deep expertise, and together we share knowledge and experiences to provide the best possible support to the families we encounter.
As a new employee, you will receive an introduction that gives you a secure start in your role. You will also have a mentor who supports you during your initial period. We offer continuous supervision, both internally and externally, and we ensure that you receive relevant further training that strengthens you in your work. When needs change or research shows new methods, you will be involved in developing our working methods.
We are proud of our workplace and the important work we do – together we create conditions for children and families to grow and develop.
Here you will become part of something bigger! With warmth and respect, we show initiative in both big and small matters. We live our values in our interactions with each other and those we serve. Every day, all year round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues throughout the city, you will have Sweden's most important job.
