The Faculty of Law in Uppsala is the oldest law faculty in the Nordic countries, established when the university was founded in 1477.

Here, there is an extensive and well-regarded undergraduate and doctoral education. The faculty houses the Department of Law, where approximately 200 people are employed.

Job Responsibilities

The course primarily concerns basic civil law and public law. Your main task will be to provide written feedback on submitted assignments to help students understand the law and the legal method. Additionally, some teaching-related administration may occur. All teaching is conducted remotely, and you will work on Uppsala University's learning platform, Studium. You will also participate in teacher meetings with the course coordinator and, if applicable, other assistants, either on-site or remotely. However, please note that you must not be on an exchange semester abroad.

Qualifications

As an applicant, you must be an active student in the law program at Uppsala University. You should have good knowledge of the legal areas covered by the course as well as in legal methodology. Good computer skills and proficiency in Swedish are required. Since the work involves daily contact with both students and staff, it is important that you have a strong sense of service and responsibility, as well as good organizational skills. You should have good initiative and planning abilities, as well as a willingness and ability to collaborate with various staff groups. You must not be on an exchange semester abroad.

Conditions

Employment as a legal assistant is regulated by Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Only those admitted to undergraduate or advanced level education may be employed as a legal assistant (HF Chapter 5, Section 10).

Desirable/meritorious qualifications

We prefer that you have completed terms 1–4 and term 6 of the law program and that you can demonstrate good knowledge in the subject areas of the course through this or other means. Previous experience of similar tasks and in-depth knowledge of the legal areas covered by the course are also meritorious.

About the Position

The position is temporary according to HF Chapter 5, Section 12. The extent is 20%. Start date is January 29, 2026, or by agreement. There is a possibility of extension if the course continues to be offered to the same extent. Place of employment: Uppsala.
