Who am I?

My name is Carl and I was born in May last year with a rare diagnosis. We live in an apartment in central Gothenburg where we spend most of our time, but we also have a summer house in Lidköping where we sometimes go over weekends and holidays. As my assistant, you will support and follow my development in several areas. I will need help from both you with extensive experience in care and support, but also provide an opportunity for you with a junior profile who still has a big heart and curiosity. We develop together with experienced and new assistants during our shared journey.

This is what a day with me might look like:

Since I am a small child, I need close care and support for my needs. Due to congenital breathing difficulties, I have a tracheostomy (trach) in place that requires constant supervision and care. I enjoy cuddling and feel safe in company. I snuggle with my parents and like to go for walks in the stroller. With me, there are always two assistants working as I need someone who sees me all the time and interprets my signals about what I need help with. Much of my routine is also structured, but you will learn that during your introduction and as you get to know my needs. You will accompany me on my journey in the early stages of life, which will also include future hospital visits and surgeries.

Who are you?

With me, you need to be a secure person who respects and is curious and attentive to my needs. You are responsible and find it easy to grasp routines in speech and writing. Communication needs to be clear and smooth, as acute situations may arise that need to be resolved in an effective and safe manner. We would like you to have experience or be studying for a care or rescue service profession, but above all, that you have an interest in me as a small child and want to learn new things. If you can use some sign language as support, that is a big plus, but it is not a requirement. If you have experience working with tracheostomy or have worked in healthcare, that is an advantage. We want to build an assistant team where both you with long work experience and you who are just starting your career can contribute and develop. The job with me starts immediately, so it is good if you are flexible after that.

About the position:

The position is 35%. The work is varied on weekdays, Mon-Fri. The hours vary between day and evening shifts.

Week 1: Thu 15:30-22, Fri 15:30-22
Week 2: Mon 07:30-15:30, Tue 08:00-15:00
Week 3: Tue 15:00-21:30, Thu 15:30-22, Fri 15:30-22
Week 4: Thu 08:00-15:00, Fri 07:30-17:00

In addition to the shifts, the position also includes being on-call according to a schedule about once a week. Being on-call means that you are reachable by phone for a few hours and ready to step in and work if a colleague gets sick. The on-call shifts are either from 07:00-11:00 (for day shift cover) or 15:00-19:00 (for evening shift cover).

The position is to start immediately. However, employment will occur before that as you will be scheduled for shadowing and trach training.
