Interventions under this law aim to enable people with disabilities to live a good and independent life. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A contact person is a fellow human being who listens and supports the individual's own development. As a contact person, you can help break isolation, assist the individual you are supporting to get out and do things together, or participate in recreational activities. A contact person acts as a friend, where you find fun things to do together.
As a Guide, your task is to support an individual with a disability to participate in activities outside the home, such as walks, movies, or exercise, to promote social inclusion. The role involves facilitating the person's transportation to and from activities, as well as participating in activities in a safe manner.
A Respite Care Provider relieves families who have a relative with a disability by temporarily taking over care in the home. The purpose is to give relatives time for recovery, personal activities, to spend time with other siblings, or to run errands outside the home. A respite care provider works to support and engage with the individual in focus, often through activities such as play, games, or simply being a safe adult.
The important aspect of the contact, whether you are a Contact Person, Guide, or Respite Care Provider, is mutual trust and that both parties feel secure in the relationship. The individual who has been granted one of these services is involved in deciding who will take on the role of Contact Person, Guide, or Respite Care Provider.
The assignment as a contact person is written as a time-limited appointment with a fixed fee per month based on the number of meetings. You will also receive a reimbursement to cover expenses incurred in connection with the assignment. Typically, this involves about 1 meeting per week, 2 hours at a time. The role of a contact person does not constitute employment under the Employment Protection Act.
As a Guide or Respite Care Provider, you often work part-time, a certain number of hours per month, on a temporary employment basis directed towards a specific user. The extent of the assignment is determined by the user's assessed need for assistance.
As a Contact Person, Guide, and Respite Care Provider, you are required to report the hours worked in the assignment to the organization.
