Accounting Economist Responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable

Götene Vatten & Värme AB's operations consist of the production and distribution of district heating, steam, and hot water, production and distribution of water, as well as the management of wastewater. The company was established in 1995 as a municipal energy company, which expanded in 2003 to also include water and wastewater services. The operations are conducted exclusively in Götene municipality.

The company employs approximately 30 staff in a variety of roles, ranging from water and wastewater engineers, customer managers, operations technicians to team leaders and economists. What they all have in common is that they are versatile individuals united by the vision of creating a future-proof delivery of fossil-free energy, clean water, and treated wastewater today and for future generations.

For our client in Götene, we are now looking for an accounting economist responsible for accounts payable and receivable. The client is a municipal water and district heating company with a significant mission - to deliver district heating and clean water to Götene municipality. In this role, you will have a central position where you are responsible for important financial flows and reporting.

About the Position

In your role as an accounting economist, you will have the opportunity to develop within accounting and finance in a small and flexible organization. The position involves a broad area of responsibility where you will be the sole person in your role, handling everything from ongoing bookkeeping, responsibility for accounts payable and receivable to actively participating in monthly and annual financial statements. Since you will be taking over from a colleague going on parental leave, it is important that you are self-driven, meticulous, and able to quickly familiarize yourself with new tasks. The assignment starts in March 2025 and lasts until October 2026.

Working hours are scheduled on weekdays, full-time, during the day. Some flexibility is available.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Ensure that payment flows are correct and follow up on the accounts.
  • Ongoing Bookkeeping and Reconciliation of Balance Accounts: Ensure that the ongoing bookkeeping is accurate and that balance accounts are reconciled regularly.
  • VAT and Tax Declarations: Manage and prepare VAT and tax declarations in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Manual Invoicing: Handle manual invoices with accuracy and follow internal procedures.

Other Tasks That May Be Included:

We are in a phase of change where our working methods and processes are evolving to meet future needs. As part of this journey, tasks such as participating in and being responsible for parts of the monthly and annual financial statements, including accruals and provisions, may change or transition to this role. Additionally, work may include contributing to the preparation and follow-up of budgets and forecasts to support the organization's planning, as well as responsibility for project accounting, managing investments, and ensuring correct depreciation and asset register.

The Business Support department also includes customer service, and you will collaborate closely with the customer manager to provide financial support on various issues. You will also serve as backup in case of absence.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a relevant education in finance, preferably with experience in accounting or accounts payable and receivable. Experience with the Raindance system is an advantage.
  • Has preferably worked a couple of years as an accounting assistant and has experience in accounting economics.
  • Is structured, meticulous, and self-driven.
  • Has strong analytical skills and can quickly identify financial relationships and find solutions to problems.
  • Is interested in developing and broadening your knowledge in finance.
  • Enjoys working independently but also has good collaboration skills and can communicate effectively with others within the organization.
