JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a mother tongue teacher and study guide, you support students in their language and knowledge development using their mother tongue, and act as a cultural and linguistic bridge. You do this through close collaboration with the student's mentor and teaching staff. You conduct high-quality teaching and have an inclusive approach.

You will work with students of different ages. The position may be located in one or more school units.

Your responsibilities include

• planning mother tongue instruction based on the syllabus for the subject of mother tongue
• planning study guidance based on the student's and subject's needs
• planning your teaching in collaboration with subject teachers, mentors, and other educational staff to meet the student's individual needs
• using digital tools for both student learning and planning and documentation of teaching
• being responsible for assessment and grading
• reporting attendance
• interpreting during the mapping of the student's knowledge
• being the face of Järfälla Language Center

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who

• has the relevant language as their mother tongue
• has very good knowledge of Swedish and their mother tongue in both spoken and written form
• has good knowledge of the culture and school systems in the countries the students come from
• has good knowledge of Swedish culture and the Swedish school system
• is familiar with the Swedish school curriculum and governing documents
• has teacher training or equivalent pedagogical education and experience
• has experience in mother tongue instruction and study guidance
• is comfortable interacting with students individually and in groups and creating good relationships
• has good computer skills
• has great flexibility and a solution-focused approach as there may be rapid changes in the assignment based on the needs of the schools
• is used to taking significant personal responsibility and can work independently
