Analyst in Supply Chain Management and Total Defense Logistics
FOI, the Total Defense Research Institute, is one of Europe’s leading institutes for applied research in defense and security. FOI is an authority under the Ministry of Defense, tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, and investigations to support total defense, disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. Our operations are primarily commissioned by the Government Offices, the Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). At FOI, we have about 1400 employees, of which over 1000 work directly with research and development. Our competencies span the entire field from natural sciences and technology to social and political sciences.
Do you have a strong interest in supply chain management, ILS, and total defense, and do you have experience in research, investigations, or analytical work? Do you want to work with interesting and developing tasks that contribute to the functioning and development of society within both the civilian and military defense? Then FOI could be your new workplace! We offer a balanced work life, a developing work environment, and a socially important job!
About the Position
We are now looking for several analysts focusing on supply chain management and total defense logistics, with a primary focus on strategic material supply and logistics within both military and civilian defense. As an analyst, you will structure and analyze questions related to both civilian and military defense resources, processes, and results in order to develop decision-making materials that improve these operations. The work is carried out together with colleagues and, where appropriate, with clients using primarily logistical theories and methods. We work across a wide range of areas, which develop and change over time.
A large part of the work is done in project form with working groups at FOI or with clients. At times, you may be placed full-time or part-time, for example, in our operational analytical groups within the Armed Forces in logistics. The tasks often require you to quickly produce materials in urgent matters for the client, but can also involve long-term work with ample time for in-depth study and reflection. The tasks place high demands on the ability to solve complex problems, a multidisciplinary approach integrating methods and expertise from various fields, as well as the ability to collaborate closely with clients and other stakeholders. Since our work is driven by the needs of the clients, it is crucial to deliver useful results on time. As an analyst, you may work on several projects simultaneously and may take on the role of project manager in some of them and as a project participant in others. Your tasks will also include leading seminars/workshops, conducting interviews, and presenting study results in report form and to audiences.
About the Unit
You will initially be part of one of the units Defense Economics or Economic Security, both of which belong to the Department of Defense Analysis. Please read more about what we do: Here (https://www.foi.se/om-foi/organisation/forsvarsanalys.html)
Do you have the competence profile we need?
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- A degree equivalent to at least a master's degree in supply chain management or logistics. Alternatively, at least a master's degree in another field, such as industrial economics, business, or economics.
- At least three years of experience in research, investigations, or analytical work in relevant areas for the position.
- Good ability to communicate in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
For this role, it is important that you have a good ability to collaborate with both colleagues and clients. You possess strong problem-solving analytical skills that allow you to quickly draw conclusions, break down problems into their components, and solve complex issues. Furthermore, you are self-driven and take responsibility for your work, effectively driving it forward to deliver requested results on time. This also means that you plan, organize, and prioritize your work efficiently, setting and adhering to deadlines. We place great importance on your personal qualities.
Meritorious
It is meritorious if you have:
- Experience with a multidisciplinary approach integrating methods and expertise from various fields.
- Experience working within a government authority as well as experience in the defense and security sector.
- Experience with logistics issues in healthcare.
- Experience leading and driving work in project form.
