Care Assistants Wanted at Mariegärde Special Housing

Mariegärde Special Housing is a dementia care facility located in western Mariestad, close to a pharmacy, health center, grocery store, and bus stop. The residence is divided into six units with a total of 52 apartments.

We are now looking for two care assistants for permanent positions at 80-100% with a start date of March 1st.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a care assistant at Mariegärde, your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the resident's ability to perform personal care tasks such as hygiene, eating, mobility, communication, and health management, either independently or with assistance when needed.
• If the resident wishes, providing support to participate in social and cultural offerings in the community and creating a sense of security.
• Assisting the resident in managing daily household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, shopping, and other household chores.
• Performing health care tasks as delegated and/or prescribed by a nurse, occupational therapist, or physiotherapist.
• Observing and reporting changes in the resident's health to the responsible nurse.
• Participating in communal activities offered to residents and organizing activities within the unit for those who do not wish or are unable to participate in communal activities. On weekends, we often have a cozy Friday evening with good food and a shared TV program, and we set the table nicely and organize activities based on seasons and holidays.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will be responsible for continuously creating, documenting, and following up on implementation plans and other documentation.

If you have a background as a specialist-trained care assistant in dementia care, you will also be a reflective practitioner with a conscious and professional approach based on your knowledge of dementia. You will be a role model, teaching, sharing knowledge, developing, and spreading approaches within your area of expertise to the workplace.

Residents may exhibit behavioral and psychological symptoms related to their dementia diagnosis, and guidance is provided in low-arousal responses and gentle self-defense.

We operate on a seven-week schedule with irregular hours and three out of seven weekends. The positions we are filling are permanent contracts at 80-100%.

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for a position at Mariegärde, you must have a recognized nursing education and a protected professional title as a care assistant. It is advantageous if you are a specialist-trained dementia care assistant.

We expect you to have experience in care work, preferably with individuals who have dementia. You should also be accustomed to working with low-arousal responses and gentle self-defense to appropriately engage with our residents and build trust and security.

We are looking for someone with high social competence, who is pleasant and has a calm demeanor. You should be attentive, flexible, stress-resistant, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You are a calm person with great patience.
