Ventilator Nurse at the Lung Clinic in Trollhättan

We are looking for a ventilator nurse and new team member for the lung clinic at NÄL, working part-time in a department where patients on ventilators are cared for.

We provide specialist care in pulmonary medicine and are experts in our field, seeing patients with many different diagnoses and treatments. At the clinic, we examine, diagnose, and treat lung cancer within the SVF process and have COPD, oxygen, and ventilator nurses. The clinic has its own sampling unit. Ward 51 provides round-the-clock care for pulmonary and general medicine patients.

About the Position

For patients with respiratory issues, such as those with neuromuscular diseases like ALS, home ventilator treatment may be necessary. The treatment may also be relevant for a patient with COPD or sleep apnea where CPAP is insufficient or not effective for the patient.

Referrals to the ventilator clinic are assessed by a pulmonologist who prescribes and is responsible for home ventilator treatment. Fitting and follow-up of home ventilator treatment is carried out by the ventilator nurse at the clinic. Follow-up involves checking if the patient can use their machine and has the correct settings and necessary accessories. The ventilator nurse educates and informs the patient and relatives as well as nursing staff about the treatment, machine, and materials. Therefore, you will work part-time in one of the wards where this patient group is cared for, such as ward 51, ward 53/54, or another suitable ward.

Measuring oxygen saturation at night can be part of an investigation for a patient with lung disease. The ventilator nurse programs and follows up on dispatched materials for these measurements for this patient group as well.

Currently, two nurses share the position of ventilator nurse, which we see as successful for the operation.

Qualifications

You are a licensed nurse, preferably with experience in pulmonary medicine/COPD and/or neurological conditions, but also with experience in respiratory aids.

You have a holistic view of the patient, are responsible, and work in a structured way. Since the work as a nurse is very independent and largely based on your own analyses and assessments, we also see that you are a stable and secure person who communicates clearly with patients and relatives, as well as with your own team and those we collaborate with.

You can see yourself in a role as a nurse with a holistic view for the patients you meet both in the ward and at the clinic in the coming years.
