Personal Assistants Needed for Two Teen Boys in Alingsås – Day, Evening, and Awake Night Shifts

Just outside Alingsås, two wonderful teenage boys need caring, attentive, and engaged personal assistants. The boys have extensive support needs and require personal assistance around the clock – which means we are looking for staff for daytime, afternoons, and awake night shifts. We have both large positions (+75%) and smaller positions that can be combined with studies. Please indicate in your application how large a position you desire and whether you prefer to work nights or days.

The brothers lead an active life with school, activities, and daily routines. One attends Nolhagaskolan and the other has just started at Alströmergymnasiet.

As an assistant, you will accompany them to school, provide support in teaching, manage medical needs, and collaborate with teachers and student assistants. In the afternoons, the day continues either at home or at a short-term residence – with everything from dinner and leisure activities to cozy evenings, music, swimming, crafts, or outings. Initiative and creativity are therefore valuable traits in this role. You will help create meaningful leisure time – and the family encourages you to contribute your own ideas.

The family has a private pool, and the boys love to swim, something the family appreciates that assistants do with the boys during the season.

At night, we are particularly looking for someone who has sharpness, presence, and patience. As an active night assistant, you will be attentive to the boys' signals – sometimes subtle – and be responsible for, among other things, medication, respiratory support, secretion mobilization, and monitoring medical equipment such as VPAP, oxygen concentrator, and PEG.

Throughout the day, you will always work in a team – the boys have double assistance for large parts of the time, even at night.

We are looking for someone with experience as a personal assistant and preferably relevant education (e.g., nursing assistant). You do not need to know everything from the start, but it is important that you are confident, willing to learn, and have a good ability to collaborate. Previous experience with medical responsibility, communication support (e.g., sign language), epilepsy, or educational work is an advantage.

The boys communicate with sounds, looks, and body language, but also with PODD & signs, and therefore a high degree of sensitivity and empathy is required to understand their needs. You should be a stable person who can be both flexible and organized, see details while keeping the big picture in mind. You should also be someone who can blend into the family's daily life – while also giving each boy their own voice and space.

You must be a non-smoker due to the boys' respiratory issues.

Please note that some shifts may start and end at different locations.

The workplace is within walking distance from Västra Bodarnes station and is easily accessible by public transport. Sidewalks are planned for August, with positions starting from September 1 – adjusted according to the schedule you will be working according to.
