VO Anesthesia and Intensive Care, Region Örebro County has a broad and exciting operation. Örebro University Hospital is in a dynamic phase with significant developments, for example, in the neurosurgical field with awake surgery and neurointervention. In the orthopedic section, spinal surgery and pediatric orthopedics have developed significantly in recent years. In intensive care, we treat a wide spectrum of patients including trauma, neuro-intensive care, and pediatric intensive care. We provide anesthesia and intensive care across all parts of the specialty except for thoracic and vascular surgery, which are handled by a separate clinic. This means that as a specialist physician/senior physician with us, you will care for both adults and children in our operating departments and within intensive care.

In the autumn of 2024, we will transition to a new medical management system where we decentralize many decisions to two medical management groups, MLG-Perioperative Medicine and MLG-Intensive Care.

MLG consists of a Medical Management Responsible Physician (MLA) in each area, theme-responsible physicians (TAL), unit managers, and section heads. This will create a clear structure for governance and development of our operations.

The area of Anesthesia and Intensive Care operates at the region's three hospitals: Örebro University Hospital, Karlskoga Hospital, and Lindesberg Hospital. It is a large operational area with about 400 employees. Our areas of work include anesthesia, intensive care, and surgical services (postoperative, day surgery, and pain management).

Job Responsibilities

As a specialist physician/senior physician, you will work both in our operating departments and within intensive care. Given the breadth of our operations, there are good opportunities for subspecialization. If you are instead interested in small-scale operations with short decision-making paths, there is the possibility to work full-time or part-time at our local hospitals in Karlskoga and Lindesberg.

Please indicate in your application if there is a specific area that interests you, and we can see if we can connect you to that specific theme. The clinic conducts extensive research activities within the framework of Örebro University and has several doctoral candidates, an associate professor, and a professor associated with it. Therefore, there are good opportunities to conduct research. Many of the clinic's physicians are involved in teaching in the medical program, and interest in this can be accommodated.

Together with the MLA, TAL, ST study director, and management, you will work to develop anesthesia and intensive care within Region Örebro County.

Qualifications

You are a physician and a specialist in anesthesia and intensive care. The position is based on previous qualifications. For the senior physician position, at least five years of experience as a specialist, clinical skills, specified area of responsibility, and/or a doctoral degree are required. As a person, you are communicative and cooperative. Previous research experience, teaching experience, and completed SSAI subspecialization are considered particularly meritorious. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
