At the surgical county clinic, there are already two experienced dietitians. You will be offered a long introduction, and there is a well-established network among dietitians within the region.

The surgical area has a close collaboration between the three hospitals in the county. The area has a county assignment for acute and planned surgical healthcare, and we also provide some highly specialized care for out-of-county patients. There are 350 employees within various units such as outpatient care, inpatient wards, surgery, and secretariat. Planned healthcare is increasingly located in Karlskoga and Lindesberg, and similarly, tumor and trauma activities are located in Örebro. Within the area of operations, there is an active development work with a focus on the patient throughout the care process.

Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is one of the county's three acute hospitals where we provide advanced healthcare, research, and education. Both in 2020 and 2019, USÖ received the prestigious award for Best University Hospital from the newspaper Dagens Medicin. USÖ won the most important category for medical quality, had the best results in the categories of accessibility, economy, and in avoiding pressure ulcers and overcrowding. Dietitian for the Surgical Area, Örebro University Hospital

Job Responsibilities

In surgery, you will primarily meet patients who have or will undergo some form of cancer surgery in the gastrointestinal tract. You will meet patients in both outpatient and inpatient care, before and after treatment. A certain part of the work may be directed towards our bariatric surgery services in Lindesberg. Your tasks will largely consist of individual nutritional treatment, which includes dietary advice with regular food, dietary supplements, and assessment of enteral and parenteral nutrition.

Your tasks include development and improvement work such as staff training, as well as being involved in designing and maintaining current nutritional routines. To optimize care for our patients, we believe that professional development is an important part of the work.

Qualifications

You are a licensed dietitian. Previous experience in surgical operations is an advantage. It is important to have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and responsibility based on the dietitian's area of expertise. Good collaboration skills are essential as you will be part of interdisciplinary teams.
