Graduate Engineer Program at Svenska kraftnät

About the Program

This graduate program is conducted in the departments of Station Technology and Line Technology, consisting of approximately 15 graduate engineers. For one year, you will have the opportunity to work in three different technical areas within these departments. This will be complemented by various training sessions and study visits conducted with the entire program group within the departments.

About the Position

The department has the overall responsibility for the technical design and development of Svenska kraftnät's overhead lines and sea and land cable installations. The department provides specialist expertise and technical support to both management and project operations. There are great opportunities for professional development alongside experienced colleagues. Work on cable projects at the transmission level, which in scope and voltage level are unparalleled in Sweden, as well as the opportunity to develop into Svenska kraftnät's expert in cable technical calculations.

If you apply for this position, you will be placed in the Design Engineering unit. Our mission is to provide support to projects in design issues and questions related to BIM. The projects include both line projects and line measures in station projects, and the unit contributes support throughout all phases of the projects. The unit is also responsible for building Svenska kraftnät's ability to design overhead lines in-house and contributes to the development of model-oriented working methods and BIM.

Your Responsibilities

In the role of designer, you will participate in overhead line projects and develop new working methods in the design of overhead lines. You will also be able to participate in work with technical requirements within the areas of overhead line design and model-oriented working methods and the development of Svenska kraftnät's design process.

Your tasks will include:

• Acting as technical support in projects where you are the bridge between project managers and technical specialists
• Participating in project meetings, design meetings, construction meetings, and similar
• Technical requirement specification and review of technical documents
• Pre-design and detailed design of overhead lines in the transmission network
• Working with pole placement, line calculations, foundation extraction, 3D design, and BIM
• Participating in the development and updating of technical guidelines in the area
• Participating in the development and management of Svenska kraftnät's design process

Your Background

We are looking for someone with a master's or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, energy technology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, road and water engineering, construction technology, or equivalent qualifications deemed equivalent by the authority. The graduate engineer program is aimed at recent graduates, and we want you to have a maximum of two years of continuous work experience. We also expect you to have:

• Strong communication skills in both Swedish and English
• A valid driver's license (B)

It is considered an advantage if you have:

• Experience in construction or infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of CAD tools for 3D design
• A thesis in a relevant area for the position

• Travel with overnight stays may occur during the graduate year
• The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period

• The position is based at our headquarters in Sundbyberg. After the program, there is an opportunity to be stationed at our local offices in Gothenburg, Sundsvall, Luleå, and Sollefteå in consultation with the immediate manager.
