Workplace Description

At the Department of Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology, there is the Research Group for Malaria and Babesia, led by Kristina Persson (https://portal.research.lu.se/sv/persons/kristina-persson). We study the intraerythrocytic parasites that cause malaria and babesia and how these parasites enter red blood cells. Our goal is to find better medications, but also to understand how immunity to these diseases arises. We are looking for a project assistant for this ongoing project. Job Responsibilities and Duties

We are looking for a project assistant to help cultivate malaria and babesia parasites. This person will mix culture media and buffers, add red blood cells, and microscopically examine parasites.

Requirements

Requirements for the position are:

• Master's degree in a relevant field, e.g., biomedicine, biotechnology
• Fluent communication in Swedish or English
• Experience in cultivating malaria and babesia parasites

Desirable for the position is:

• Experience in general laboratory work

Other

The position is a fixed-term employment (SÄVA) full-time (100%) limited to 12 months starting from 2025-03-01 or by agreement, but no later than 2026-02-28.
