The Family Counseling Service consists of three family counselors and a manager responsible for three operations. The Family Counseling Service is part of the Department of Individual and Family Care in Borås City and also provides family counseling for the municipalities of Bollebygd, Svenljunga, and Ulricehamn.

Job Responsibilities

As a family counselor, you will work with conversations to help process cohabitation problems and conflicts primarily in couple and family relationships. The conversations may involve crisis management, clarifying conversations, processing conversations, and separation work. The work of the Family Counseling Service also includes outreach and preventive work regarding relationship issues through various forms of parent education in collaboration with child health centers and family centers. The Family Counseling Service aims to continuously develop and reach our target group in new ways. Within the department, we emphasize collegial learning, citizen participation, and collaboration with others.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker, psychologist, or has a similar higher education. A requirement is also that you have basic psychotherapeutic training equivalent to at least step 1 in family therapy or step 1 in another area combined with longer family-oriented systemic theoretical training. It is an advantage if you are a licensed psychotherapist with a family focus, step 2. It is also advantageous if you have EFT training (emotionally focused therapy).

In addition, it is important that you have a professional attitude and have achieved personal maturity, as well as the ability to create trust and good relationships. You are attentive and have good collaboration skills. You have an interest and ability to independently seek and acquire new relevant knowledge in the field. It is a given for you to work from a child perspective and you are positive about collaborating with other actors for the best interests of children. You need to have accumulated some experience in your professional role. Previous experience in family counseling work or similar is desirable. Since the workgroup consists of only three people, we will place great emphasis on the composition of the group. At our small counseling center, it is required that everyone in the staff group takes great responsibility and contributes to collegial learning and development of the operations. A driver's license is a requirement.
