PhD Candidate in Business Administration

Södertörn University is an institution in Stockholm that educates, researches, and collaborates for sustainable societal development. The university has over 13,500 students, approximately 80 programs, and 340 courses. Education and research are conducted in the fields of humanities, social sciences, technology, and natural sciences. The university also offers police education and teacher training with an intercultural profile. Much of the research focuses on issues related to the Baltic Sea and Eastern Europe. At Södertörn University, subjects, perspectives, people, and experiences are blended. Here you will find the curious and the questioning, those seeking unexpected combinations, development, and challenges.

We are now seeking a PhD candidate in Business Administration for the research project Sustainable Development in Swedish Island and Archipelago Communities.

The overarching question of the research project is: What are the lessons learned from previous and ongoing development projects related to social, cultural, economic, and ecological sustainability, and what are the projects' experiences from their applied development models for small island communities in a Swedish context? The project's potential contribution is to collaboratively develop and disseminate knowledge about models, methods, tools, and policies that are contextually adapted to promote sustainable and vibrant island and archipelago communities. Within this overarching framework, the PhD candidate has the opportunity to independently specify and choose their research questions, methods, and research design within their dissertation work.
