IT Specialist at the City Planning Administration

The City Planning Administration is responsible for driving and coordinating the physical planning of Gothenburg. We contribute to creating a sustainable city for current and future generations. Our responsibilities include strategic planning, detailed planning, land surveying, building permit management, and providing geographic data. Approximately 450 people work within the administration.

The City Planning Administration is part of the urban development administrations in Gothenburg. Together, we work to create conditions for a functioning infrastructure, quality housing and facilities, an inviting public environment, and ensure that the city becomes sustainable from all perspectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Welcome to the IT unit within the City Planning Administration! We are a passionate team of 10 employees dedicated to driving digital development forward. Our main task is to support our departments in their digital transformation by offering operationally close system management, IT support, and IT administrative services. With us, you will have the opportunity to be part of something bigger and contribute to Gothenburg's future through the power of technology and innovation in urban development.

We are now looking for an additional engaged IT Specialist who is ready to actively contribute with colleagues to shape our digital future. In collaboration with our competent IT teams, you will be responsible for the management and optimization of technical applications, including CAD, GIS, and other central IT systems that form the backbone of urban planning, geodata, geotechnics, and traffic analysis. Your responsibilities will include configuring and customizing IT systems, delivering qualified support, and acting as a resource for training and guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS

We expect you to have a university degree in IT or equivalent education/experience. You should possess solid knowledge in the use of CAD and GIS. Additionally, you are well acquainted with PC hardware, Microsoft client and server platforms, data networks, and have a basic understanding of relational databases. This role requires analytical skills as well as the ability to work in a structured, independent, and efficient manner. It is important that you are a team player who is solution-focused and has a positive and service-oriented attitude. Furthermore, we expect you to have good communication skills both verbally and in writing.

We would like you to have previous experience working in technically advanced IT environments, for example in sectors such as engineering, architecture, or urban planning. You are used to documenting your work and working in case management systems. You have a genuine interest in technology and possess good knowledge in data and information management, system integration, and information exchange between IT systems. An understanding of system design and a general acquaintance with programming languages and scripts is advantageous.

We see that areas such as Business Intelligence (BI), Robotic Process Automation (RPA), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are becoming increasingly important for the development of operations, and we believe that your expertise can make a significant contribution.

The position is classified in security class 3, and a security review including a drug test and a security interview with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.
