School Counselor for Elmsta, Norrsund, and Grisslehamn Schools

About the Position

We are looking for a school counselor for Elmsta, Norrsund, and Grisslehamn schools in Norrtälje Municipality. The position is a full-time temporary position (100%). It is about a 10-minute walk between Elmsta and Norrsund School, and about a 15-minute drive to Grisslehamn. You will have a rotating schedule for different days at each school and need access to your own car to travel between the schools.

Job Description

The efforts of the student health services are primarily of a promoting nature. You will work with guidance and consultation for staff, classroom and group work together with teachers, and supportive conversations with children/youth aimed at supporting children's schooling or helping with support outside of school. You are an important part of the schools' work on well-being and safety, as well as addressing school absenteeism, and you will participate in the work together with the teams. The work also includes conducting school social investigations at the request of the principal and social investigations prior to admission to primary school. Some training of staff and collaboration with various partners is also included in the assignment. The assignment involves collaborating with other professionals within the school and external actors. At the schools, we have a well-developed student health work where we focus on promoting and preventive work. We believe that student health work begins in the classroom, where the professionals in student health make their best contributions.

Qualifications

For this position, you are required to have:

• a degree in social work or equivalent education
• experience as a school counselor in primary school
• good knowledge of the school's mission and governing documents
• good experience working with digital systems
• strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written

About the Workplace

The Elmsta principal area consists of three schools located in Elmsta and Grisslehamn. Norrsund School (grades 7-9), Elmsta School (grades F-6), and Grisslehamn School (grades F-6). The schools are close to nature and beautiful surroundings. Together, we have about 290 students across the three schools. We have a close collaboration with the schools in the principal area regarding teaching, leadership, and professional development. The schools are led by a principal and an assistant principal, and a joint student health team meets once a week. Together with the school nurse, special teachers, school psychologist, and school management, we form our joint student health team. The school is near Elmsta center with access to excursion opportunities while still being in a quiet residential area with large spaces and play areas.
