About Ågrenska

Who will you be working with? 

We are looking for another fantastic assistant for our 17-year-old daughter with Rett syndrome. Our daughter is 16 years old and lives with us, her parents, and her brother in eastern Kortedala, Gothenburg. She is a curious girl who loves to be social with others and to be active. At home, we dance a lot and enjoy adventures in the forest. She has a secret language that means she communicates with her body and eyes. As her personal assistant, you will be a part of her daily life. 

You will, of course, receive a good start with an introduction from both us parents and current assistants. Everything to ensure that you and our daughter will thrive together.

Your job will also involve taking care of her basic needs (ADL) and daily hygiene. You will need to have active supervision when you are together, and you will interpret and translate her communication to the surroundings.

Scope of the position

We are looking for someone who wants to work on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM when our daughter comes home from school. We are a small group that helps each other, so there may be opportunities to take on more shifts from time to time. The start for this position is week 32. 

Who are you applying? 

You are smoke-free, responsible, reliable, meticulous, clever, enthusiastic, self-driven, and confident. A good sense of humor is a plus :)

- It is with your support that she communicates with her surroundings, and therefore you need to have fluent Swedish skills in both spoken and written form.

You will be working on Mondays and Wednesdays in the afternoon/evening from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This means you need to be punctual and able to work independently. The afternoons involve fixed routines that you perform together, such as dinner, minor activities at home/local area, and preparing for the evening. 

Other qualities you might have;

- Familiar with TAKK – sign language support, or a desire and commitment to learn about it.

- Familiar with eye-controlled computers and the communication tool PODD.
