Department of Clinical Sciences
The Imaging Diagnostic Unit is an approved training site for the European specialist examination in the subject, for both small and large animals. The clinic is well-equipped with modern X-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, 64-slice CT for small and large animals, 1.5 T MR for small animals, 0.27 T MR system for standing horses, and scintigraphy for small and large animals including its own Hotlab.
We have many international contacts and our nurses are specialized in diagnostic imaging. We are about 12 employees divided into radiologists and radiology technicians.

About the job
The resident will work clinically at the Imaging Diagnostic Unit in accordance with the training program, which mainly includes large animal radiology, ultrasound, CT, MRI, and scintigraphy. The program also includes a certain number of small animal cases for radiology and ultrasound.
The resident is expected to actively participate in the teaching of veterinary and animal nursing students and other work at the Imaging Diagnostic Clinic, which includes internal training as well as information for referrers and animal owners.
Applicants must aim to specialize in diagnostic imaging and graduate from the European specialist training in the subject 'Diagnostic Imaging' (DipECVDI).
Your background
- Valid veterinary license with permission to practice in Sweden.
- Work experience as a veterinarian in a general clinical training program (internship) or two years of general clinical work.
- Knowledge and clinical experience in veterinary medical imaging focusing on X-ray and ultrasound of large animals at an imaging diagnostic department/clinic equivalent to approximately 1 year.
- Good spoken and written English skills as well as knowledge of Swedish.
Preferred qualifications
- Participation in research projects in veterinary medical imaging.
- Basic experience with other advanced imaging techniques such as CT, MRI, and scintigraphy.
- Experience with teaching.
- Experience working as a veterinary radiologist at SLU.

The Department of Clinical Sciences is responsible for undergraduate education, research, and doctoral education in anesthesiology, diagnostic imaging, animal care, epidemiology, laboratory animal science, surgery, clinical chemistry, internal medicine, and reproduction. In all subjects, our activities cover all animal species.
At the SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), education, research, and advanced animal care go hand in hand. We educate tomorrow's veterinarians and animal nurses and provide first-class care to companion animals, competition animals, and production animals. We also disseminate knowledge to the public. By combining established knowledge with the latest research results, we develop the future of animal healthcare.
Under one roof, healthcare is provided for horses, dogs, cats, and other small animals. In addition to modern operationally adapted premises, we have access to advanced imaging diagnostics and a veterinary specialist laboratory. The UDS operation also includes an ambulatory unit that travels to stables and farms to examine and treat horses and farm animals.
