Head of Department Physician

Job Responsibilities

As the Head of Department Physician, you work in a team with section managers, ward managers, and other Head of Department Physicians, and lead the anesthesiologists in operation 1 and 2 in their daily work.

You have the overall medical responsibility for the operations in Mölndal. You ensure high patient safety and good quality of care, as well as promote cost-effectiveness. You contribute to collaboration and coordination with other units and all staff categories to ensure good and equal care. You play a key role in ensuring that the surgical program is adequate and efficient. In the team, you work together on current development and quality work in the department.

We consider it a priority that you have good support in your ongoing role as Head of Department Physician, and that you receive the introduction you need.

This position is a permanent employment as a specialist physician/chief physician with a limited-term assignment as Head of Department Physician, which includes 10% administrative time and a predetermined salary supplement.

In addition to the role as Head of Department Physician, you participate in the daily work and on-call activities at the clinic.

About the Facility

At Mölndal Hospital, one of northern Europe's largest orthopedic centers is located. Over 5000 operations are performed annually in Operation 1, spread across 7 operating rooms with 24/7 activity. In addition to orthopedics, kidney transplants, eye surgeries, and hand surgeries are also performed during on-call hours.

Sahlgrenska's only eye surgery unit (Op 2) is located at Mölndal Hospital and is part of the assignment as Head of Department Physician at Op 1. The eye surgery assignment includes national healthcare for eye surgery in children.

In addition to Operation 1, AnOpIva Mölndal has a hand surgical department (Op4), a day surgical department (Op 3), and an intensive care unit with 6 beds. In addition, there is a well-functioning pain management unit and a CPR unit.

We are constantly working towards high patient safety and accessible care. We have a clear profile for clinical research and have a very active R&D department. As we have the privilege of having employees focused on innovation, the clinic has many interesting projects aimed at the future of healthcare, conducted both within the clinic and jointly with the hospital's other operations.

About You

We are looking for a specialist physician in anesthesia and intensive care with several years of experience in independent work. Previous experience in medical management roles and project management is advantageous, as is education in operation management, communication, and leadership.

We see that you have a good ability to work in a team, to collaborate, and to communicate clearly and respectfully with a focus on goals and patience. You enjoy working with change and development. Important qualities include the ability to be receptive, to build trust and participation, and to have the ability to complete ongoing change and development work. This requires good planning skills, an overview, and decision-making competence.
