Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity

The Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering is in an expansive phase and is making an investment to strengthen research and education in cybersecurity by establishing a new research group in the field. The investment is directly related to the university's successful computer science environment with several strong research groups that offer good synergy opportunities.
Subject Description
Cybersecurity focuses on technical security aspects and the protection of systems connected to the internet, including the protection of software, data, and hardware.
Job Responsibilities
The assistant professor will primarily be engaged in research in external research projects and in doctoral education as a co-supervisor, and to a lesser extent will also be involved in the university's education and pedagogical development work. Areas that the assistant professor is expected to work in include, among others, applications of blockchain, access control, smart contracts, and digital twins.
Eligibility
To meet the requirements for employment as an assistant professor, the applicant must:
- hold a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree assessed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree.
In the first instance, preference will be given to applicants who have obtained their doctoral degree no more than five years before the application deadline. However, those who have obtained their doctoral degree or have achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances.

The following assessment criteria apply for the position:
- scientific competence
- other assessment criteria
Other assessment criteria (in descending order):
- scientific publications after the doctoral degree
- the degree of such competence required for eligibility
- ability to supervise doctoral students
- ability to attract external funding
- ability to plan, lead, and conduct research
- ability to collaborate with external parties within the framework of research projects
- ability to collaborate with the surrounding community
- ability to inform about research and development work
- ability to teach on a good pedagogical basis
- ability to teach in Swedish and/or English
Employment Period
This position is for a period of four years.
Promotion to Associate Professor
The purpose of the appointment is to give the teacher the opportunity to develop their independence as a researcher and to qualify both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for eligibility for a position as an associate professor.
An assistant professor should, after application, be promoted to associate professor and a permanent position if they are eligible for a position as a professor, and in an assessment, deemed suitable for such a position according to the assessment criteria mentioned above.
In the assessment, it is required that the assistant professor has completed higher education pedagogical training equivalent to 7.5 credits and supervisor training equivalent to 3 weeks, or has acquired equivalent knowledge in another way.
During the employment period, the assistant professor must also independently, to a significant extent and with high quality, contribute to the university's research and demonstrate good pedagogical skills.
