CBRN Teacher at the Total Defense Protection Center in Umeå

Are you an engaged educator who wants to contribute to making Sweden and the world safer? The Total Defense Protection Center in Umeå is now seeking a teacher for the CBRN School.

The mission of the CBRN School is to meet the total defense's need for knowledge about protection against hazardous substances; radiation, infection, and poison. The school develops the skills of employed personnel in total defense and educates students from the Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence University, and civilian authorities. The CBRN School is part of the Functional Unit (FunkE) at the Total Defense Protection Center.

As a CBRN teacher, you will be offered a varied and dynamic environment where no day is the same. From classroom instruction to fitting personal protective masks, you will be provided with a stimulating mix of theory and practice, both nationally and internationally.

Main Responsibilities

Your main responsibilities as a teacher at the CBRN School will include:

• Educating on protection against hazardous substances.
• Course leader responsible for planning, implementation, and follow-up.
• Participating in military and civilian exercises (as an exercise leader or participant).
• Developing educational materials, training aids, and courses.
• Your own professional development.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

• Subject teacher degree in natural sciences or another subject area deemed equivalent by the employer.
• Driver's license B.
• Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone with good initiative who can work both independently and as part of our team. You are structured and practical. Furthermore, we see that you are open, social, and confident in yourself, possessing good communication skills and recognized good judgment. Personal suitability is of great importance.

MERITORIOUS

• Practical experience or education in CBRN.
• Experience as an educator/instructor.
• Education or experience in crisis management or civil defense.
• Academic studies in a relevant field for the position.
• Military experience, e.g., basic training/conscription.

Permanent employment. The Armed Forces apply a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority. Before employment, a health examination will be conducted to ensure that you meet the requirements for military placement.

Employment rate: Full-time.

Work location: Umeå.

Civilian position.

The position may involve a number of business trips per year, including internationally.

Start date: August 1, 2025, or by agreement.
