University Lecturer in Building Materials

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Natural Resources Engineering at Luleå University of Technology is seeking a university lecturer with expertise in research on cement-based materials, including self-healing and nuclear shielding concrete, bio-based cement-based materials, and 3D concrete printing, as well as teaching concrete and construction material properties including building physics aspects. This recruitment aims to strengthen our academic programs and research initiatives. Applications are invited from academics who are committed to promoting excellence in both teaching and research.

Subject Description

Building materials include sustainable construction materials and their application, recycling, and reuse, as well as applied building physics, with a particular focus on Arctic conditions.

Responsibilities

Supervision and co-supervision of master's students and doctoral candidates, research, teaching, and applying for funding for research projects.

Eligibility

To meet the eligibility requirements for the position of university lecturer, the applicant must:

  • Have a PhD or equivalent scientific competence or other professional skills that are relevant to the position.
  • Demonstrate pedagogical skills through proven experience, pedagogical skill, and pedagogical development.
  • Have completed higher education pedagogical training of at least 7.5 higher education credits or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge.

Other assessment criteria: weighted equally

  • You must have a PhD in building materials.
  • Experience with biomass-based cement materials and knowledge of 3D concrete printing is also a requirement. Additionally, knowledge of image analysis and material characterization using advanced experimental methods is meritorious.
  • Knowledge of digital teaching tools is a requirement, along with demonstrable expertise in designing and delivering practical laboratory activities in concrete.
  • You should have experience in developing methods and tools for analyzing multifunctional concrete properties, including self-healing, electrical conductivity, and electromagnetic/nuclear shielding.
  • You should have experience teaching building materials, with an emphasis on building physics aspects such as heat and moisture transfer.
  • You must demonstrate a documented track record in securing research funding from Swedish funding agencies, organizing academic conferences and workshops with various stakeholders, and disseminating scientific results through peer-reviewed publications, presentations, social media, and websites.

The position is a permanent full-time appointment based in Luleå. Start date by agreement.
