Hertsöskolan is located in central Hertsön, which is Luleå's largest residential area with about 5,500 inhabitants. The school has 310 students in grades 4-9. Here, 50 educators work alongside staff in student health, study and career guidance, custodians, meal staff, and cleaners. Together, we have extensive experience, and many of us have worked at the school for a long time. Since the autumn term of 2012, Hertsöskolan has offered an optional mathematics program. Until the spring term of 2026, we will operate in temporary modules, but from the autumn term of 2026, we will move into a newly built school.

Hertsön is known for its rich leisure and community life and proximity to nature. There are libraries, youth centers, sports facilities, and a nature reserve within walking distance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

You will teach students in grades 7-9 in mathematics and science and serve as a mentor for a class. The science teaching will focus on biology and technology.

The position involves planning, teaching, and assessing within the subjects. You will plan and follow up on daily work, maintain contact with guardians, conduct development talks with students, and collaborate closely with other teachers and student health.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license and is qualified to teach mathematics and science with a focus on biology and technology for grades 7-9.

To succeed in this role, you need to be skilled at creating and maintaining good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You should be a secure person who can create calm in the classroom, have the courage to speak up when necessary, and distinguish between issues and individuals. You have good collaborative skills and a willingness to share knowledge and experiences.

Employment type: fixed-term employment until 2026-04-12 with a possible extension.
