Hertsöskolan is located in central Hertsön, which is Luleå's largest residential area with about 5,500 inhabitants. The school has 310 students in grades 4-9. Here, 50 educators, student health staff, study and career counselors, custodians, meal staff, and cleaners work. Together, we have extensive experience, and many of us have worked at the school for a long time. Since the autumn term of 2012, Hertsöskolan has had an optional mathematics focus. Until the spring term of 2026, we will operate in temporary modules, but from the autumn term of 2026, we will move into a newly built school.

Hertsön is known for its rich leisure and community life and proximity to nature. There are libraries, youth centers, sports facilities, and a nature reserve within walking distance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will teach students in grades 7-9 in mathematics at the high school level and in science with a focus on chemistry and physics at the elementary level for grades 7-9. Teaching in technology may also be relevant. You will also be a mentor in a class.

The position involves planning, teaching, and assessing within the subjects. You will plan and follow up on daily work, maintain contact with guardians, and conduct development talks with students, and you will have close collaboration with other teachers and student health.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has a teaching license and is qualified to teach mathematics for high school and science for grades 7-9. It is an advantage if you also have qualifications in technology for grades 7-9.

To succeed in this role, you need to be skilled at creating and maintaining good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You should be a secure person who can create calm in the classroom, have the courage to speak up when necessary, and can distinguish between issues and individuals. It is also important that you are driven to work towards set goals and have good collaboration skills.
