Hertsöskolan is located in central Hertsön, which is Luleå's largest residential area with about 5500 inhabitants. The school has 310 students in grades 4-9. Here, 50 educators, student health personnel, study and career counselors, custodians, meal staff, and cleaners work together. We have extensive experience, and many of us have worked at the school for a long time. Since the autumn term of 2012, Hertsöskolan has offered an optional mathematics orientation. Until the spring term of 2026, we will operate in temporary modules, but from the autumn term of 2026, we will move into a newly built school.

Hertsön is known for its rich leisure and community life and proximity to nature. There are libraries, youth centers, sports facilities, and a nature reserve within walking distance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will teach students in grades 7-9 in Swedish and English and serve as a mentor for a class. The position involves planning, teaching, and assessing within the subjects. You will plan and follow up on the daily work, maintain contact with guardians, conduct development discussions with students, and collaborate closely with other teachers and student health personnel.

If you have the right experience and competencies, there is an opportunity for a lead teacher position in Swedish.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who has:

• teaching certification and is qualified to teach Swedish and English in grades 7-9
• good pedagogical insights
• strong skills in Swedish, both spoken and written

It is advantageous if you have:

• worked as a lead teacher in Swedish

To succeed in this role, you need to have good collaboration skills and be adept at creating and maintaining good relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. You should be a secure person who can create calm in the classroom, have the courage to speak up when necessary, and distinguish between issues and individuals. It is also important that you are driven to work towards set goals and are curious, ensuring that you stay updated within your profession.

If you are shortlisted for the position, you will need to provide a valid extract from the criminal record.

Start date: 2025-08-13 or by agreement.
