The Intelligence Department conducts strategic and operational intelligence and analysis work both in crime prevention and revenue collection. The Intelligence Department is now seeking analysts to work with strategic and thematic analyses primarily in the area of crime prevention.
The position primarily involves strategic analysis work at the national level, which includes mapping work, knowledge acquisition from both strategic and operational reports, various databases, and through interviews to carry out assignments. The work as an analyst may also involve project management, development work, and handling responses to consultations based on the department's positions on certain issues.
The position is based in Stockholm. A six-month probationary period applies.
About the position
The strategic intelligence operations will support the direction and prioritization of the Swedish Customs' activities. The focus will be on detecting trends, phenomena, patterns, and deviations. By identifying existing and future threats and risks, the strategic intelligence operations will strengthen the agency's ability to direct and prioritize operational activities. The strategic intelligence analysis operations will shape forward-looking assessments and analyses. Work is conducted using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
The position is located in the Intelligence Department, at the national unit for Strategic Analysis and National Desk. The unit operates in four locations (Kiruna, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Malmö), but the strategic competence is concentrated in Stockholm and Malmö. Within the analysis operations, there is data analysis competence and analysts focused on qualitative analysis. The strategic intelligence analysis operations collaborate with national and international authorities.
In this position, you will:
- work in all parts of the intelligence cycle.
- identify intelligence needs.
- conduct strategic analyses and assessments to support the operational intelligence activities, both in the form of analytical efforts and through the production of written reports.
- work on developing decision support for management. Communication and presentation of completed analyses and assessments are part of the job.
- work on gathering and structuring both qualitative and quantitative data to conduct analyses regarding the Swedish Customs' crime prevention responsibilities.
- monitor the external environment.
- collaborate with operational departments and subject matter experts.
For certain tasks, good knowledge of English is required.
We are looking for someone who has:
- A university degree in relevant fields for the position, such as criminology, social sciences, history, journalism, statistics, economics, or law.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Excellent ability to express oneself verbally and in writing in Swedish.
- Good ability to express oneself well verbally and in writing in English.
- Very good knowledge of the Office suite.
- Swedish citizenship.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Training in analysis or intelligence methodology.
- Training in databases, analysis programs, or information systems.
- Experience in project management or driving development work.
- Experience in investigative work, for example, within crime prevention, investigative work, mapping work, or equivalent.
- Experience in qualitative analysis.
- Experience in quantitative analysis.
- Experience in working with intelligence analysis.

The position requires analytical ability, perseverance, and initiative, the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to quickly shift focus. You should be good at structuring and prioritizing your work. You should be able to work independently and take great responsibility for how your work contributes to the whole. You should be good at collaborating and contributing to the group's common results and development.

Travel may occur in the position, both domestically and internationally.
