Activity Leader and Youth Mentor in Bellevuegården/Lorensborg

HSIF (Home Plan Social Sports Association) Lorensborg is a multi-sport association active in the residential areas of Lorensborg and Bellevuegården. The association has been around for six years and works to offer activities at minimal cost to children and helps youth develop into leaders. In addition to sports activities, HSIF Lorensborg runs other social activities to promote development in the residential areas. Since 2024 and 2025, we have started working with all residents in the area on both sports and culture and other community development, both independently and in developed collaboration with other actors.

Home Plan runs this summer activity together with MKB and Stena Fastigheter. We also work with ASF Malmö city and Ung i sommar. We also try to attract local associations, such as MFF, Malmö squash club, Hyllie GIF, the Tenants' Association, and Meeting Place Social Innovation (MSI) at Malmö University.

Content and Responsibilities

You will work with five interns from Ung i sommar aged 16-19 to engage children in various courtyards. You will be a mentor for the Ung i sommar interns. You will plan the work together with an activity leader in the other residential area and the project manager who is your supervisor. Together, you will plan and implement games, activities, etc.

You will have access to balls, jump ropes, play equipment, etc., as well as a tent to use in case of rain. Your responsibilities also include welcoming guests from associations or other activities that are showcased and inspire.

You will also help organize and disseminate information about the four courtyard parties we arrange.

The activities will take place outdoors in the courtyards four days a week from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. One day a week, either Monday or Friday, will be used to plan the upcoming week and the community day.

In Bellevuegården, the activities will move around four courtyards, and in Lorensborg, around three.

The premises we operate from are relatively close. One in Bellevuegården provided by MKB and one in Lorensborg which is our own. Both premises are a maximum of three hundred meters from the activities, and there are toilets and the possibility to eat packed meals.

You will also have a shared responsibility to work with the project manager to investigate what the residents wish for short- and long-term development in the area. As project leaders, mentors, interns, children, youth, and residents, we create together with the associations in the area or those who want to start activities.

We will begin with three training days before the interns arrive.

Those who take over in period 2 will enter the routines that have been created with overlap.

The project leaders are responsible for supplementary training.

The mentors are responsible for collecting statistics on the activities and participating in the final report.

The training is coordinated with our own project on social entrepreneurship. Mentors and Ung i sommar will visit the university and receive information about their work. They may also participate in their presentation of their chosen project and project plan and be encouraged to provide developmental feedback.

Employment Period:

2 positions Period 1 16/6–11/7 and two training days 12-13/6, and one evaluation day 25/8.

2 positions Period 2 14/7-8/8 and two training days 12-13/6, and one evaluation day 25/8.

Your working hours are between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. every weekday.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience leading youth.
• Is organized and has a good ability to promote group processes and make youth feel included.
• Can adapt your communication style to different contexts.
• Is a responsive leader who is good at seeing the individual.
• Is motivated to inspire, encourage, and support youth and their ideas.
• Can communicate fluently in Swedish.

In addition, it is an advantage if you:

• Have led or are leading projects in youth influence, social entrepreneurship, culture and sports, volunteer work, sustainability, or similar.
• Have good knowledge of a language other than Swedish.
• Have experience in coaching and group guidance.
• Have suitable post-secondary education and practice.

You are a person who inspires trust and has the ability to create and maintain good relationships. You also have good collaboration skills. You are pedagogically inclined and can create conditions for learning among our youth. Furthermore, we want you to have a professional approach where you take responsibility for your tasks and drive your work independently, reflect, and can set boundaries in your assignment.
