IF Metall is now looking for a local ombudsman for the Östra Skåne department with an office in Kristianstad.

The position is a permanent employment and is full-time with start date according to agreement. We look forward to your application!

About the position

The main tasks consist of providing labor law advice and representing members in negotiations and disputes. The role includes recruiting members, forming clubs, recruiting and supporting elected representatives at workplaces, and creating engagement for membership and union values. In this position, you will be financially responsible for the department (treasurer).

As a local ombudsman, you will negotiate collective agreements at workplaces within IF Metall's areas. The work involves building relationships, establishing trust, and also conducting negotiations in a solution-oriented manner at the workplaces where you are assigned negotiation mandates. An important part is to prioritize workplaces without clubs and also to pay special attention to women's working conditions and professional development. In this role, you are expected to strengthen union-political work by engaging in political decisions that are important for the members.

As an ombudsman, you work on behalf of the department board, for the interests of the members. The work takes place within the geographical area of the department and the collective agreement areas present in the region. You are independently responsible for negotiations and member matters and report to the department chairperson. Additionally, you will have close cooperation with other ombudsmen and administrators in the department.

Salary and employment conditions are in accordance with our agreements for local ombudsmen.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with experience in union work as an elected representative with good labor law knowledge and/or experience in labor law advice. The role requires negotiation experience and preferably experience in membership recruitment or organizing. If you have previously worked as an ombudsman or with collective agreement negotiations, it is an advantage. You express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish and have basic knowledge of English. You are a proficient user of IT tools in your daily work. Since travel is involved in the position, a B driver's license is required.

As a person, you are relationship-building, solution-oriented, and communicative. If you have presentation experience, it is an advantage. You are used to making your own priorities and organizing your work so that members always receive help and support. You understand how important it is that negotiations are handled correctly, as the outcome can have direct consequences for the individual as well as for the collective.
