Social Worker for School Social Team in Malmö

A functioning school attendance is an important protective factor to prevent social exclusion and ill health. Since the autumn term of 2024, the city of Malmö has established school social teams in the city's primary and secondary schools. The school social teams provide an opportunity for schools and social services to work together to increase classroom attendance and support students with adverse development at an early stage.

Job Responsibilities

The Department of Student Health and Coordination is looking for a social worker who wants to be part of a school social team aimed at supporting high school students with problematic school absenteeism. As a social worker in our school social teams, you will work with supportive and motivating change initiatives at both group and individual levels, based on goals formulated together with the student and their family.

Your assignments are based on applications from schools that need support and interventions from the school social team. Based on the applications, you and the team will conduct an in-depth mapping that will then form the basis for the change initiatives and goals formulated together with students and/or their guardians. Thereafter, the change process work begins through motivational and supportive conversations or other interventions.

The daily work is conducted in the network around the student in collaboration with other actors.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Degree in social work (210 credits)
• Several years of experience in social work focused on children and youth
• Experience as a social worker in high school
• Good insight into social services legislation
• Good digital skills
• Fluent in Swedish, both spoken and written

Desirable:

• Training in motivational interviewing
• Experience working in a school social team in high school
• Experience in family treatment
• Experience in parent support
• Experience in motivational/coaching conversations
• Good experience collaborating with other authorities and being part of various networks
• Experience leading groups.
