Summer Internship in Quantum Photonics

Fysikum is one of the larger institutions in Sweden within the Faculty of Science, with a broad basic research activity, both experimental and theoretical.

The department has about 250 employees, of which 95 are PhD students, and it has an international character. Job Responsibilities

Integrated photonics is a promising technology for future quantum science and quantum technology, offering exceptional advantages for applications in quantum computing, quantum communication, and quantum sensing. The goal of the project is the implementation of a quantum photonic processor, including design, simulation, fabrication, and characterization of quantum photonic circuits. The summer internship project takes place in the Quantum Information and Quantum Optics group at Stockholm University, led by Prof. Mohamed Bourennane, and is funded by the Marcus and Amalia Wallenberg Foundation through EDU-WACQT, an initiative to strengthen Swedish undergraduate education in quantum technology.

Qualifications

The candidate should have an education in physics, computer engineering, or equivalent. Knowledge of C, C++, Python, and VHDL is an advantage. Since the work environment is international, good communication skills in English are required. The work also requires good collaboration skills.

About the Position

The position is part-time (50%) and is time-limited for 5 months during spring-summer 2025. The start date will be determined in consultation with the project leader. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
