Our responsibility is to coordinate the city's work with chemicals by analyzing materials and guiding operations to be chemical-smart. We work closely with preschools, construction project managers, purchasers, and environmental coordinators, as well as with our colleagues at the environmental administration.

A large part of the unit's work concerns requirements for construction and building materials. The operations within the city that build and construct must use the Building Material Assessment to choose and document the materials they use in their projects. We educate and provide advice, as well as develop working methods and engage in dialogue with Building Material Assessment Service AB regarding system and criteria development.

Your role

As a project manager, you will collaborate with other project managers at the chemical center and from other units.

Your tasks may include:

• conducting investigations about, and sometimes having analyzed, the chemical content in construction and building materials, goods, and chemical products
• using the results of these investigations and analyses to develop and follow up on chemical requirements
• educating and participating in networks for employees in the city and users of the Building Material Assessment
• communicating with the city's operations, businesses, and the public
• supporting environmental inspectors regarding chemicals in various types of materials and products
• participating in national and international collaborations
• contributing to other parts of the chemical center's work and in further developing the city's chemical work.

The focus of the work may evolve over time. Travel may occur, both within Sweden and abroad. You will report to your unit manager.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• a university degree in chemistry or (eco-)toxicology, or another university degree combined with work in chemistry or (eco)toxicology that provides equivalent competence
• experience in developing and disseminating information about chemical risks associated with products and operations described by the chemical plan, such as construction and building materials, everyday chemicals, and consumer goods
• experience in advising on chemical risks in procurement and supply chains
• basic knowledge of legislation in the chemical field
• knowledge of the environmental quality goal of a non-toxic environment and the EU's chemical strategy
• good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish and English.

It is an advantage if you have:

• a doctoral degree
• worked with assessment systems for construction and building materials and have a good understanding of the various parts, actors, and conditions of the construction process
• worked as an environmental inspector or in construction and building in a municipality
• worked with supervision in the chemical field
• worked with assessing chemical risks in the construction, building, and real estate sectors
• been responsible for chemical management systems, such as Chemsoft
• worked on developing, setting, and following up on chemical requirements in supply chains.

To succeed in the role of project manager, you need to be both pedagogical and communicative to adapt to the recipients. You are goal- and result-oriented and change direction when circumstances change. You consider the best interests of the entire organization in your actions. Furthermore, you are structured and organize your work efficiently. You have the ability to analyze complex issues and find solutions.
