Environmental Officer for Contaminated Areas

You will work with supervision, guidance, and grant management within contaminated areas.
What the role entails
The work involves handling a wide range of tasks within the area of contaminated sites. A central part of the job is to conduct supervision according to the Environmental Code, which means ensuring that laws and regulations are followed to protect both human health and the environment. You will also guide municipal environmental offices in their supervisory work.
Furthermore, part of the work involves being involved in government-funded investigation and remediation projects. You will also participate in the review of municipal decisions related to contaminated areas. The work also includes updating the EBH support, a database used to collect and manage information about contaminated areas.
We have an open work climate and we work both individually and collectively, but always with the opportunity for discussions and check-ins.
Are you the one we are looking for?
We are looking for someone who has:
- a scientific or technical degree at the university level or another degree that we assess as relevant
- experience working with contaminated areas
- excellent ability to communicate both orally and in writing
As a person, you are unpretentious, responsible, and constructive in your work while being structured and used to handling multiple tasks simultaneously. You have good collaboration skills and the ability to create and maintain good relationships with colleagues, citizens, and other community actors, and you enjoy working in a team. You can organize, prioritize, and carry out your tasks independently while staying within the frameworks and guidelines set to achieve the goals.

As an employee at the County Administrative Board, you need to
- have the ability to make decisions based on a holistic view considering multiple perspectives
- understand that a central role for the County Administrative Board is to make trade-offs between different interests
- have the ability to prioritize and adapt to work with new tasks or in new contexts.
It is meritorious if you have:
- experience of supervision according to Chapters 9 and/or 10 of the Environmental Code
- several years of experience from government agencies or as a consultant
- driver's license class B

The position is located in the environmental department with 120 employees, and the unit for land and water protection is one of six units with 27 employees.
