Vattenfall Hydropower is responsible for Vattenfall's 90 hydropower plants and approximately 300 dams in the Nordic region. We have about 500 employees in Sweden and Finland, with headquarters in Luleå. The renewable electricity production from hydropower is a prerequisite for creating a climate-smart and fossil-free society, where we play an important role as enablers for the sustainable energy systems of the future. Our production corresponds to about 25% of Sweden's total electricity needs. To deliver high availability in our production, we must constantly challenge ourselves, develop our working methods, and take advantage of digital opportunities.

About the Role

We now want to strengthen our team with an additional Dams Technical Expert with expertise as a Hydrolog for the dam safety department. The department is responsible for managing and monitoring dam safety work within Vattenfall Hydropower. We analyze the safety of dam facilities and set requirements for their design, compile needs for measures, initiate projects, and communicate operational limitations when necessary. You will work with a variety of investigation, development, calculation, and analysis tasks. We hydrologists also participate in national and industry-wide development and research projects.

We currently have seventeen people working in Luleå, Solna, Trollhättan, Kinna, Umeå, Älvkarleby, Örnsköldsvik, and Östersund, and we are now looking for a dam technical expert with expertise as a hydrologist based in Luleå or Solna. The position is a permanent full-time employment.

You Will Work With:

  • Identifying and assessing deficiencies and deviations regarding the facilities' status concerning dam safety, initiating appropriate measures.
  • Identifying needs, developing proposals, and leading dam analysis investigations.
  • Applying the risk management process for dams.
  • Proposing measures and establishing action plans for increased dam safety.
  • Preparing decision-making materials for feasibility studies and projects.
  • Participating in the management and development of the hydrology area within dam safety.
  • Participating in the implementation of guidelines for determining design flow for dam facilities.

Requirements

You who are applying have an education as a hydrologist or education and experience in the field of dam safety and are a civil engineer with a focus on Civil Engineering, Road and Water Engineering, or equivalent. You have the ability to handle many issues, you are analytical, goal-oriented, and trustworthy, and you find it easy to collaborate with others. It is advantageous if you have software skills in GIS, FEM, CAD.

A B driver's license is required as travel is involved. You have the ability to handle many issues, you are analytical, goal-oriented, and trustworthy, and you find it easy to collaborate with others, and you also have good communication skills in both spoken and written English and Swedish.
