Research Assistant in Biogeochemistry
The Department of Environmental Science is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science.
The department consists of four units with over 170 employees including researchers, teachers, PhD students, and technical/administrative staff from more than 30 different countries. Research and teaching are conducted in environmental chemistry, atmospheric science, biogeochemistry, and ecotoxicology. Research at the Biogeochemistry Unit focuses on carbon and nitrogen cycles as well as heavy metals in soil, freshwater systems, and oceans. The unit has a strong and long-standing research focus on the impacts of global warming in the Arctic, with an overarching goal of improving knowledge about these systems and future predictions for their biogeochemical cycles. The Biogeochemistry Unit is now seeking a research assistant to complement our team.
Job Responsibilities
The position is linked to ongoing projects on climate change in the Arctic. Responsibilities may include processing soil, sediment, and plant samples, various laboratory analyses, etc. The position may involve fieldwork.
Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have a Swedish master's degree or an equivalent degree from another country. We are looking for a highly motivated person with experience in laboratory work within biogeochemistry. Evaluation will be based on previous experience, independence in laboratories, and ability to collaborate with others. A background in e.g. biology, chemistry, geo- or environmental science would be very suitable. Good collaborative skills and proficiency in English are required.
About the Position
The position is full-time and is limited to four months. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date in June 2025.
