The national infrastructure for In situ sequencing (ISS), located at SciLifeLab in Solna, offers the latest ISS technology to researchers across Sweden. In situ sequencing (ISS) enables high-multiplex RNA profiling directly in cells and whole tissue sections, preserving spatial information for advanced molecular analysis. The infrastructure aims to make this powerful technology available by providing ISS services to the research community.

We are looking for a highly motivated staff researcher for the In Situ Sequencing (ISS) Unit at the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics (DBB), Stockholm University. The position is formally associated with the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Stockholm University but is located at SciLifeLab, Sweden's national center for cutting-edge research in life sciences.

Job Responsibilities

The main task in this role is to work on projects for external users, but it also includes internal research and development.

The laboratory work involves handling tissue samples, performing ISS library preparation and cyclic detection, as well as working with sensitive instruments such as fluorescence microscopes and the Xenium in situ platform.

The office work includes image data processing/analysis and writing project reports.

Qualifications

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology or equivalent competence.
• Experience working in a laboratory environment.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
• Experience with in situ hybridization or similar techniques.

Meritorious

• Experience in service-oriented laboratory operations or work with laboratory information systems and quality assurance.
• Experience in fluorescence microscopy.
• Experience in handling biological tissues and cells.
• Good understanding of molecular biology/biochemistry.

To succeed in this role, you should be an independent problem solver with a structured and quality-conscious approach to work. You should have strong communication skills, both spoken and written, as well as excellent collaboration skills.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

About the Position

The position is permanent full-time with a six-month probationary period. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date according to agreement.
