Department of Molecular Biosciences, Wenner-Gren Institute (MBW)

conducts experimental basic research in molecular cell biology, integrative biology, and infection and immunobiology.

The research environment is characterized by modern and advanced methodologies and has a strong international profile. MBW is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University with over 30 research groups and approximately 180 employees, of which 65 are doctoral students. Project Description

A project is available in the laboratory led by Dr. Martin Jastroch. We are looking for a highly motivated researcher with an interest in physiology and metabolism. Our lab works with adipocytes and animal models to study energy metabolism from the organism to the molecule, focusing on adipose tissue and the development of uncoupling proteins.

Responsibilities

The position includes project leadership, scientific writing, and research and laboratory-based experimental work on a highly innovative project exploring adipose tissue thermogenesis. Experience in the fields of phylogenetics and mitochondrial bioenergetics is advantageous. Furthermore, skills in adipose cell culture and plate-based respirometry are desirable. High motivation, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.

Eligibility Requirements

A researcher is primarily employed for research and must have obtained a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree.

Assessment Criteria

In the appointment process, special emphasis will be placed on scientific competence and experience working with mitochondria.

About the Position

The position is full-time and is limited to a maximum of 3 months. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
